Celebrating the Arts: New Downtown Mural Brings Color and Creativity to Thief River Falls
A new piece of public art is bringing energy, color and creativity to downtown Thief River Falls.
The Zehlians Club of Thief River Falls is celebrating the completion of its 2026 downtown mural project, “Celebrating the Arts.” The large-scale mural was designed and painted by professional mural artist Trey Everett of Crookston, who was commissioned by the Zehlians Club for the project.
The community is invited to a public celebration and dedication ceremony on Thursday, October 15, starting at 4:30, at the mural site, 208 4th Street East in Thief River Falls.
Everett will be on hand for the celebration, along with Mara Hanel of the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council and members of the Zehlian Club.
A Unique Downtown Work of Art
“Celebrating the Arts” is anything but an ordinary mural. The vibrant artwork spans the sides of two buildings and comes together at a concave 90-degree angle, creating a distinctive three-dimensional setting for the artwork.
Filled with vivid colors and a strong sense of movement, the mural is designed to capture attention and spark imagination. Its purpose is to celebrate the many forms of art while encouraging people to stop, look, and consider the creative possibilities around them.
The result is a dynamic addition to downtown Thief River Falls, one that invites both residents and visitors to experience art in a new way.
Community Celebration on October 15 at 4:30
The Zehlians Club hopes the dedication will bring the community together to celebrate this new addition to downtown.
Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the artist and representatives from the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council, learn more about the project, and enjoy refreshments.
Whether you're an artist, an art enthusiast, or simply curious to see one of the area's newest public art installations, everyone is encouraged to attend.
The celebration begins at 208 4th Street East in Thief River Falls on Thursday, October 15, from 4:30 to 6 PM.
Come celebrate the arts, support local creativity, and see the new “Celebrating the Arts” mural for yourself.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
